RTX Austin

1 min read
Anyone else going to RTX in Austin, TX? It's a convention held by Rooster Teeth (the producers of RWBY). It's the con's fourth year, but the turnout is already as large as Otakon's turnout! which is 30,000+ people. Every year they double their attendance! That's why this year, I'm going to see what all the hype is about. It's not even an anime convention, but there will be a lot of cosplayers. I'm going as Blake Belladonna! I made her entire cosplay and weapon from scratch, except her white shorts. It's taken me almost 2 months, but it's been fun! I probably spent around $60-70 on everything so I'm happy =D

I know I haven't been active lately... urgg school sucks. But I went to Tokyo again this past break! It was a much better experience than last year since I didn't get lost XD So much shopping and so much :iconramen-plz: .. I want to go back again! I noticed that there was LINE chat merchandise EVERYWHERE! I love LINE so I bought a lot of it... even a Cony kigurumi XD

I also visited Taipei for New Years for the first time. I was really surprised at how cheap everything was. There was street food around every corner, and the night markets were crazyyy! Man I miss those chicken poppers and $1 bubble teas.. :iconfeelingfullplz: I even tried stinky tofu. :iconpinkamina-diane-pie: I also went hiking a lot XD it was so warm. Coming back here to snow was so sad :iconitsfreezingplz:

:iconcoffeedonut1plz::iconcoffeedonut2plz::iconcoffeedonut3plz::iconcoffeedonut4plz::iconcoffeedonut4plz::iconcoffeedonut4plz:

So for Katsucon, I'll be going on Thursday to visit a friend, and staying Saturday/Sunday! I'll be staying in the convention hotel for the first time...so excited!! The Gaylord is gorgeous! I'm going as default Miku on Thursday (probably for the last time.. the wig is almost dead), and cosplaying on Saturday as Yuno. I have an exam Monday D: so I probs wont be around Sunday =/ I've never been on a Thursday before, so that should be exciting. Hope to see you there ^^
Edit: ended up not going on Thursday due to massive amts of snow LOL elsa's work

This summer... new cosplay XD

AUSA reflection

For my first time at the convention, I thought it was pretty good experience. Parking was definitely inconvenient -  the hotel only had about 600 spots, and overflow parking was 2 metro stops away. The National Zoo - definitely fun, and like 3 blocks away. Also, free street parking sunday was great.

Overall, it was definitely very different from my Otakon/Katsucon experiences. It was much smaller, less organized.. on Sunday, there was no location for one event (BACK-ON photoshoot), and 15 minutes into the event, even the staff did not know where it was going to be held. We eventually spotted the band walking around and followed them to the location. Being a small convention, there were lots of smaller vendors in the artist alley/dealer's room that you won't find at the large conventions - they sold some pretty cool stuff for good prices. In addition to the Maid Cafe, there was a Host Club, where we could choose a male host to entertain us and play games - they were cute :3 The staff was also very lenient - on Sunday I forgot my badge at home, and they gave me a new one for free.

Granted, I only went because BACK-ON, my favorite J-rock band, was performing, so I will not attend this convention again. Unless BACK-ON returns! They were last at AUSA 6 years ago. I got all the autographs and merchandise I wanted, and got to meet and talk with the band members, so I'm pretty satisfied. The concert was amazing - they played 12 songs! I miss them now...after seeing them up close for 3 days in a row!! Until next time...

AUSA 2013

Well, on rather short notice, I'm going to Anime USA in Washington, DC next weekend (Sept 13-15). I have school so I probably won't make it out till friday night, but I'm mainly going to see BACK-ON!! My favorite J-rock band. They aren't as big as Chemistry or Home-made Kazoku, as were featured in the past few Otakons, but I love them =D Which is probably why they are at a smaller convention. This will be my first time at AUSA, so I'm excited! I'm mad that they moved the convention dates from the usual November to September, because that means tickets are now more expensive than they would have been had I purchased them months ago. =.=;; But nevertheless, anything for my favorite band =D I have a lot of exams coming up (and one on the 13th! ><) so I most likely won't stick around for most of the con. I hope the concert is on Saturday! They still haven't released the schedule yet. I'm honestly not too interested in the rest of the convention, which is why I have never attended. (and the inconvenient dates)

Since I'm taking the Metro there (it's by the National Zoo!), I might not cosplay, and I might. Maybe I'll bring the wig and change at the con. Gasai Yuno isn't too complicated aside from the messy wig (which i JUST washed!!! arghh time to style it again...) so I'll probably be her. Sadly, I didn't have time to make a machine gun (31.media.tumblr.com/9f0aadf388…) like I wanted to. Maybe Katsucon =D

Any suggestions for future cosplay? I want to be Weiss (white) from RWBY! =D Ruby was my first choice but her weapon looks difficult to make (and still be able to disassemble) and bring on the plane safely to RTX 2014, which is in AUSTIN! I like making fake weapons now =D Worbla/wonderflex/thermoplastic is immensely useful.

I lost a bunch of my old art files.. does anyone have (by any chance) a saved copy of my old artwork from Tyresa? Particularly the WoW blood elf hunter one? D: that one took me a month.

Thanks!
